All rules will be enforced and if a question arises on any of the rules, an official decision shall be made and will be final and binding for that car and all others. Rules are subject to change. DECISIONS OF THE OFFICIALS WILL BE FINAL AND BINDING. For questions, call Doug Maynard at (812) 626-0762 (all messages will be returned) or write P.O. Box 4063 Evansville, IN 47724-0063 or e-mail for a quicker response at smashemup@hotmail.com.

DRIVETRAIN / ENGINE
  • Homemade driveshaft permitted. NO slide or solid driveshafts, must be the hollow tube standard type. Homemade gear shift permitted.
  • Converting automatic shift cars to standard and standard to automatic shift acceptable.
  • Rear end/gears maybe replaced. May also be welded. Major alterations to mount them are not permitted.
  • Any make motor and transmission in any car. Homemade motor and transmission mounts acceptable. Distributor must not pass through firewall at the before race inspection. If car is previously run and the frame is bent to where it goes through firewall, this should be acceptable. Will be judged at inspection.
SUSPENSION
  • MUST have soft bounce. NO stiff suspensions. (We understand bent frames may not have proper bounce and this will be acceptable and determined at inspection time.) Do not change coils to leafs, etc.
  • Height must be no more than maximum of 27 inches from TOP center of bumper(s) to ground. We understand used cars will possibly differ and this will be acceptable. The black rubber type spring spacers are acceptable to help raise if you want to. No spacers on top or bottom of spring.
  • Lower trailing arms may be shortened / altered. A bead of weld is permitted to connect them back together. Small overlap will be permitted. NO added metal.
  • Coil springs may be held in with a bead of weld, wire, bolted, or strap which may only attach to one coil ring to spring mounting area. Add nothing to leaf springs. No added leafs or doubling coil springs.
FRAME AND BUMPERS
  • NO welds to frame / uni-bodies or bumpers anywhere (unless listed below). NO trailer hitches.
  • Bumper brackets and assembly may be welded and shock housings may be re-welded to frame. Bumper shocks may be welded, chained, or bolted to help keep them from pulling out.
  • If frame is split or cracked open, NOT BENT, it may have a bead of weld placed on it. NO PLATING.
  • If frame is rusted, small thin plate may be added ONLY over rusthole. SHOW US BEFORE RACE.
  • BODY MOUNTS: Must remain in place. Do not take them out and place body on frame. You may replace them. If replaced, a gap of one half inch MINIMUM is mandatory between frame and body during the before race inspection. You may replace with a stack of washers, one piece of anything solid as long as it is about the same diameter as factory bushing. DO NOT squish factory mounts. Also, the old body bolts may be replaced but must be of approximate size as ones removed and washers and nuts must remain in same location as any taken out. NO big washers on outside of frame unless specified in hoods category below.
  • Bumpers & mounting assemblies may be interchanged. Any car bumper – any car. We will try it this year. If abused, we will remove this benefit next year.
  • We understand used cars have potential to have mount torn out in the trunk area from competition and this will not be an issue. However, if bolted back together, a spacer must be used.
HOODS, TRUNKLIDS, TAILGATES

HOODS & TRUNK LIDS MUST BE OPEN AT THE PRE RACE INSPECTION. USED CARS WITH WADDED UP TRUNKS ARE EXEMPT FROM BEING OPEN.

Cannot be looped or U shaped - maximum of one inch in diameter. They may be held in place with maximum of 3 washers per rod. One washer on bottom of frame, one washer on top of frame in hood area with nut on each washer. In trunk, one washer on bottom of frame and one washer on trunk floor pan with nut on each washer. One washer on top of hood or trunk lid with nut on washer. NO washers directly under hood or trunk lid sheet metal. Maximum size of any washer on these hold downs is approximately 7 inches in any one direction. Body mounts may be removed if installing all thread hold downs through a body mount hole. No all thread in tailgates.
  • Angle iron pieces are also acceptable. You may put on fender and hood or trunk/hatch/tailgate and quarter panel and bolt them together. NO longer than 7 inches in length and no less than 7 inches apart if using more than one set on each side. We understand used cars may not have a 7 inch space due to being bent. No bigger than 2 inch angle.
  • Hood and / or trunk lid may be removed. If hood is removed, fan must be removed also. Trunk lids MUST NOT be removed andbolted flat inside trunk on floor. Do not remove and push forward inside trunk area. They may be trimmed or tucked and held down.
  • Hoods must have hole(s) in it big enough to fight a fire is necessary.

  • Driver protection bars are permitted by using any or all of these options: Side to side dash bar, side to side bar behind drivers seat , or back seat side to side bar. Bar(s) running from dash bar along doors to any bar(s) behind driver seat. This may make an enclosure of the driver and the fuel tank area. A single loop roll bar is acceptable. Only the roll bar may be welded or bolted to frame. If you have any corner bars, they may only connect to sheet metal / floor pan. If connecting to floor, a washer / plate on each corner is acceptable to secure it down, but washer / plate may be no larger than approximately 7 inches. Rear corners and bars must be no less than 6 inches in front of or above the area where the front of the rear wheel wells meet the floor pan in the drivers compartment.
